Kelly Yotebieng has been informed that her proposal, “The City from the perspective of urban refugees in Yaoundé, Cameroon,” has been recommended for funding by the National Science Foundation Research Experience for Graduate Students mechanism. She will spend two months in Cameroon this summer reconnecting with the Central African refugee community and agencies providing them services in Yaoundé, and conducting pre-dissertation research. The overall goal of this research project is to document how a growing population of urban refugees recursively rebuilds their lives and communities after conflict and displacement, and how they define well-being. She plans on using findings from this research to develop plans for her doctoral dissertation research grants to be developed.
